Amy, Siricio, & Emanuel
Amy (12), Siricio (10), and Emanuel (8) are refugee children from Africa who live with their mom and her boyfriend. They were persecuted for their religion and escaped Africa, went to a refugee camp, and are now in Colorado. Mom has successfully completed substance abuse treatment and doing awesome! She is seriously such an inspiration to me. And, the kids are so sweet. Amy has been teased a lot in school (she is the only African American girl in her class and dealing with some bad peer stuff) but she informed me that her education is more important and that she is focusing on her studies. Such amazing kids! They are very poor. The boys are in twin beds in the same room and sleeping on flowered sheets; they could really use some boy bedding.
