We sponsored Destiny, Kayla, and Taylor last year. I had the pleasure of being their guardian ad litem when I still worked at the Children's Law Center. Last year, they had just returned home and were so excited to spend the holidays with their parents. However, their mother continues to struggle and they are now split apart-- with two children living with another relative and one with her father. One of the things that strikes me the most about these girls is how substance abuse really does affect everyone. You would never know what these girls have been through by meeting them. They are your typical, adorable, gregarious, amazing kids that have experienced so much more than they ever should have.
