Child C1 (7 year old female)

Family C: please forgive the lack of personalization. Part of what I have loved about Brunch With A Purpose is using the children's real first names. However, Brunch has grown so much and we're helping some small counties so it would be too obvious to list their real names and I have to protect their confidentiality.  

Family C consists of a divorced mom and dad with one 7-year old little girl. Both parents work but make very little money. They are involved with the child welfare system due to the mother's alcoholism.

When parents refer their children to Brunch With A Purpose, they fill out a referral form and talk about their circumstances and this is what Child C1's mother said:

"Because of our separation and subsequent divorce, money has been tight for all of us. Last year, we celebrated Christmas on the 24th, but did not have much at all to set out from Santa. A few months ago, my daughter told me that she must not have been good last year because Santa didn't come see her. This is heartrbreaking to me because she is such a sweet child. Because of my addiction (alcohol), she has suffered and I am hoping that she gets a great Christmas this year with a sober mom. She loves to swim, play music, ski, and read books- especially about dinosaurs, oceanic animals, and sharks."

These parents, though divorced, work so hard to get along and work together to make their daughter's life go as smoothly as possible. They could definitely use our help and I wish you could meet this adorable little girl (who, by the way, still believes in Santa!).
