Family D: again, please forgive the lack of personalization. Part of what I have loved about Brunch With A Purpose is using the children's real first names. However, Brunch has grown so much and we're helping some small counties so it would be too obvious to list their real names and I have to protect their confidentiality.  

Family D consists of three children who are adorable, polite, and really sweet. They live with their mother, who is the victim of domestic violence and has thankfully, separated from their father. Unfortunately, the children have witnessed a great deal of domestic violence and have experienced things they should not have. However, their mother is taking great care of them and despite her past rough home life, the 10 year old excels at school. The mother works odd jobs to put food on the table for her children and has been financially devastated by her separation from her violent husband.

small laptop computer for her schoolwork (we always give new gifts but this is probably ok to be used if someone has a used "baby computer" in good condition; the mom knows these are really expensive and felt self-conscious about asking for it but her daughter really needs one for school)
