Child H1 (13 year old male):

Family H: please forgive the lack of personalization. Part of what I have loved about Brunch With A Purpose is using the children's real first names. However, Brunch has grown so much and we're helping some small counties so it would be too obvious to list their real names and I have to protect their confidentiality.  

Family H is a mother and son who are very close. She is a single mother and the father is not involved. She had a decent job but fell and was injured and has lost almost everything. They are trying to keep the house. What the mother wrote about her son on my referral form was so sweet. She said that what he really wants for Christmas is a sibling. She says that having another child would be impossible for her due to her age and financial status. A few years back, her son asked her if she were the Easter Bunny and she told him that yes, she was one of his helpers. He later asked if she were also the Tooth Fairy and she said that yes, the Tooth Fairy needed help, too. When he eventually asked her if she were Santa, she said, "Oh no, Santa has lots of helpers with all his elves and reindeer." She says that this is one of her favorite, most special memories from his childhood.
