Child Q1 (12 year old female) and Child Q2 (7 year old male):

Family Q: again, please forgive the lack of personalization. Part of what I have loved about Brunch With A Purpose is using the children's real first names. However, Brunch has grown so much and we're helping some small counties so it would be too obvious to list their real names and I have to protect their confidentiality.  

Family Q consists of two children who live with their grandmother. Child Q1 is an A and F student; in other words, she's very smart and does well when she applies herself. She's very close with her mother and is struggling not living with her. Child Q2 is a goofy silly boy who loves SpongeBob Squarepants. There are a lot of family issues and their mother and grandmother do not get along at all. Their mother is a former meth addict who has done well in treatment and is maintaining her sobriety. She also has a pattern of being in abusive relationships- domestic violence.

Their other set of grandparents have gone in together to pay for them to attend a snowboarding program. The grandmother with whom they live said they would be absolutely thrilled about this! They have coats and the program pays for a helmet, goggles, and gloves, but they need snowboarding pants. They also really want their own snowboard and boots so they won't have to pay to rent the equipment every day.
